Go to a product description in your shop, then right-click and display the source code.
Press CTRL+F and search for:
alt="class=productimage"
You will then see the entry
alt="Here is your product name"
and probably
title="Here is your product name"
This is not ideal, especially as only the product name appears everywhere if there are several product images.
So 5 images = 5x the product name in the source code.
It should be better here:
alt="Here is a description of what can be seen in the picture".
this is the part for blind people or people who can't display the picture for some reason
as well as:
title="Here is a search engine optimised text".
By the way, the title is also the text that is displayed when you move the mouse over the image.
In this way, you optimise your shop for search engines, and the alt code fulfils its actual purpose: to enable people with reading disabilities or blindness to read your shop using a screen reader.
These ALT and TITLE texts are then displayed in the source code:
- in the product listing
- in the product view
- on the start page with the new products
Other boxes, such as bestsellers, are available on request for a small surcharge.
