Products description

WebP is an image standard that ensures that images are very compressed while maintaining good quality.

Whether a shop offers images in WebP is now a ranking factor in Google.
But not all browsers can display WebP images. And not all merchants want to go to the trouble of uploading WebP images.

Our module is called up hourly by cronjob and creates additional WebP images from all images. Existing images are overwritten - in case you have changed something.
If a customer comes to the shop whose browser cannot display WebP, he or she is automatically shown the previous image (i.e. the jpg or png image you uploaded). The same applies to images for which the cronjob has not yet run, i.e. for which there is currently no WebP version.

And of course the images also appear in the sitemap.

Technical requirements:

  1. The server on which your shop is located must have a PHP-GD module installed and activated. Ask your hoster about this. Or we can simply test it. If it does not work, we will remove the module and charge you nothing.
  2. And of course, your hosting contract should include cronjobs. If not, you can also create an account on a site like cronjob.de.
  3. Of course, all images should be created correctly. "Image.jpg.jpg" is not allowed, nor is a .jpg image that has simply been renamed to .png. This also applies if the image should be displayed correctly in the shop. The analysis of each individual image, why it could not be converted to webp, is not included in the price.

Not update-safe, as we change the .htacces file, among other things.
Risks and side effects: This module does not work with Cloudflare protection activated.

This module doesn not work at hoster "all inkl".
