Combine several orders into one

2 orders a day, or 5 a week - you know those customers who order everything bit by bit because they remember something.

Now you can easily combine several orders into one. You enter the order numbers in a field and click on "Merge". 

Now we check whether all orders have the same delivery address, create a new order from these and recalculate the shipping costs (see also the release notes below)
We also check the products. Identical products (i.e. also with identical attributes) are added together, others are only added as a new line. 
We use all data from the order with the highest ID from the selected orders, all other selected orders are only changed in status.

Instructions: 
Simply click on the blue "Merge orders" button on the right in the admin in the list of orders. 

A screen will open in which you can display columns such as order number, total, surname. Click on 2 or more orders. The system will now check whether they match. If yes, you can click directly on "Merge orders". If not, the button remains grayed out and you must first check the box "I understand that orders have different shipping, payment or delivery addresses and would still like to merge them". 
If your store domain changes, you must enter it under Modules - System modules - Merge orders.

Versions
1.1 - current version - February 2024
Orders with different payment and shipping methods can also be combined. You just have to check the box that you have noticed and agree. 

Merged orders are no longer deleted, but are given the status "merged"


1.0 - first version - January 2024
In the current version, we ignore vouchers, discounts, etc. We only add up the products and recalculate the shipping costs. The billing address from the order with the highest ID is used. Orders with different delivery addresses cannot be merged.  Orders with different shipping methods cannot be merged.
