Products description

Almost every owner of a Wawi despairs sooner or later: there are, for example, 5 products in the Wawi, as they lie on the shelf. Let's say: a green, a red, a yellow, a blue and a black T-shirt.

In Modified, there is only the possibility to display these five products individually, or to create one product and the rest only as attributes - an input mask that is rather modest in terms of input possibilities.

With this module, everything becomes very simple.

There is one leading product, we call it the "parent product".
The other products are presented as attributes, they are the "child products". This parent product-child products system works quite simply:

1. possibility: manual assignment

  1. You create a new T-shirt "Great shirt in several colours" and note the product ID (not: article number) of the parent product.
  2. You go to the green, red, yellow, blue and black T-shirt and always assign the product ID of the "Great shirt in several colours" as the parent product in an input field there.
  3. Then you go to the "Great shirt in several colours", and there you now automatically have the option of assigning a heading for the selection, e.g. "Colours:".

In the product listing and the search results(*) you will now only see: "Great shirt in several colours". If you open the product, you will land on the parent product. (see also pictures). The colours are shown as attributes. In reality, however, they are the children's products, so they are not an attribute, but an independent product. If you click on one of these "fake attributes", even the URL changes and you end up in the red T-shirt, for example, and can buy it.

Search engine optimisation included:
Google only sees the "Great T-shirts in five colours" - no more duplicate content!

In the background, however, they are normal products - with all the functions that go with them:
You can use all the functions for products, your own photos per T-shirt, your own EAN number, it even works with the module "Reminder on re-availability"!

And - NEW SINCE 05/2020 - from now on the module also has an AUTOMATION option.

The automation depends on you maintaining the article numbers in a logical way.

Let's stay with the above-mentioned T-shirts. For example, T-shirts always start with the article number 512.
51245 = green T-shirt
51299 = yellow T-shirt
51255 = blue T-shirt

Now create a product in your Wawi (or in the Shop) called "Great shirt in several colours" and give it the item number 512xx.

Now go to Modules - System Modules and install the automatic version of the module.

This tells the parent-child system to search for products whose item numbers begin with 512 and have 2 digits after that.
As soon as you press Start, the parent-child system will mark all products that begin with 512 as sub-product items and assign them to product 512xx. All you have to do is enter the name of the selection (e.g. "Colour:") - that's it!

And we can even automate this "press start". smiley

(*) For the search results, you can order the version where the products are listed individually instead of the main product dummy.
If you do not order / mention anything in the checkout, you will receive the version where only the main product is displayed in the search results - this version makes more sense in our opinion.
