There is now an inexpensive Google Shopping module that only incurs one-off installation costs (plus of course the ongoing costs for the Google Shopping account, but no ongoing interface fees).
There are not as many setting options as with Fishnet Manager365, and if Google changes the interface, it will no longer work, but if you just want to test Google Shopping for success, this should be your tool of choice.
Important to understand:
- the Fishnet Manager365 comes from us and is supported by us free of charge.
- The Google Shopping module, however, comes from AGI and is supported by them for a fee. We cannot help you with the operation, but there are instructions.
Under Utilities - Google Taxonomy, you will find the link to the entire Google category listing.
You need to call this up and copy out the categories that suit you.
Then specify which Google category your store categories belong to. However, you can also do this differently for individual products.
You have the option to further refine the settings in the respective product.
Settings for Google Shopping
You have a wide range of options to prepare your products and categories for Google Shopping:
- Assign appropriate Google categories (numeric and text format)
- Define colors, sizes, and patterns
- Enter alternative titles and brand/manufacturer info
- Add measurements, energy efficiency class, and required attributes for apparel
XML and CSV Data Feeds
You can configure as many feeds as you like—fully customizable by:
- Target countries and languages
- Filters such as minimum price, minimum stock, shipping times, and manufacturer
XML Feeds
- Generated via URL and delivered on demand
- Each feed URL can be password-protected
- Feeds can be built incrementally using a cronjob URL—perfect for large shops
- Settings are stored directly in the feed configuration, not in URL parameters
CSV Feeds
- You can define custom input fields for each product and feed
Product Variants & Attributes
- Variants (size, color, pattern, material) based on Google attributes are included in the export
- You assign these using your shop’s product features
- You can link product images to variants, exclude certain images, or change their order
Advanced Features
- Overview page for assigning attributes without editing each product individually
- Export approvals can be managed in bulk via lists or per category/feed
- Campaign/URL extensions let you attach tracking or custom parameters to product links
- Subfeeds with just price and availability data—ideal for frequent Google updates
- Local feeds can be generated when subfeeds are used
