Import products and photos automatically

Situation:

Your wholesaler or manufacturer supplies you with a CSV file with the product data and images. This must now be read into the shop.

Prerequisite:
CSV file that is always in the same place, always has the same name and contains at least one column with the product name and one column with a unique identification. This can be the item number, but does not have to be. Unique means that the identification must never be used for 2 different products.

Solution:
we build you a customised import that can do the following:

1. Capture a CSV file that is located in a specific folder and has a specific name, also htaccess protected. It does not matter whether the file is located at your or the wholesaler's site.
2. The CSV file can contain: product name, quantity, price, path to a picture, path to further pictures, product description, short description, category name.
3. The import now searches for new products and adds them to the shop, either in a general import folder, which you can edit later, or, if desired and available in the file, it creates the specified category. The price is multiplied during the import according to values you specify, whereby only the orientation on the price in the file is possible, not on categories or product types (*).
4. Existing products are updated according to your specifications, again: general for all, not according to category or product type. **
5. Products that no longer exist in the CSV file will be deactivated in your shop (if desired).
6. Import either as a fully automatic background action (cronjob - if possible with your hoster), or as a link for your browser favourites to click on.

* Example:
from 0 to 10 Euro multiplier 2,0
from 10 to 150 Euro multiplier 1,8
from 150 to 500 Euro multiplier 1,6
over 500 Euro multiplier 1,5

**Example:
Update prices and quantities during import, but no product description and no images.
Or: Update prices, quantities and images, but not the product description.
