Over the last ten years, the European Union has tried to ensure that chargers for cell phones and other devices fit together better and that you don't need so many different power adapters. The EU also wants to reduce the amount of unnecessary electronic devices in order to protect the environment.

For this reason, the EU adopted a new regulation on 23.11.2022, which all EU countries must incorporate into their own laws. This regulation stipulates that all devices that are charged must bear certain markings. This regulation was to be anchored in the national laws of all EU countries by 28.12.2023, but in Germany this was not done until 06.05.2024.

This rule now comes into force on 28.12. 2024 and affects ** ALL ** retailers, whether B2B or B2C.

On the one hand, if an electrical device is sold (see also list here) then it must be stated whether a plug is included or not.

Secondly, IF a plug is included, the minimum power and maximum power must be specified, as well as information on whether the USB PD fast charging protocol is supported or not.

So it works like this:

  1. you specify that it is an electrical device.
  2. Then you specify whether a charging plug is included or not. If not, the module will display a crossed-out plug in the front end and that's it.
  3. If yes, enter the minimum and maximum power and whether the plug supports USB PD.
  4. The Plugin now dynamically generates the graphic from the data and displays it in the frontend for the product.
