Debugging is usually more time-consuming than regular programming. You don’t know what’s broken, and neither do we—we have to figure it out first. That means systematically working through the code, testing, ruling out possibilities, and documenting our findings. Often, the bug is in the last place you’d expect.
Nevertheless, we charge the same hourly rate for debugging as for regular programming—because we believe you shouldn’t be penalized for something not working as it should.
However, you should know: Payment isn’t contingent on whether the bug is found or fixed. This rate applies even if we don’t make any progress. Of course, you can set a maximum time limit in advance for how long we should continue searching.
